English in the Afternoon

Women in Medieval English Literature, the latest course in this series of short introductions to selected aspects of English Literature has been completed, with an average of 9 people attending each session. We covered a range of literary modes, including Letters, 'autobiography', and drama, as well as Chaucer's poetry, to discover how varied the representations of women could be during the Middle Ages.

The next course in the series will begin on 8th October. The topic is: English Drama before Shakespeare. We will be looking at a number of plays from 'mystery', or Corpus Christi drama, a selection of morality plays, and some of the Tudor Interludes we have not covered in the previous course.

Details will be available in the Southampton Central Library in September, or from the contact email on this site.
