Contributions to Poetry Reading Group
Most recently, as a result of the growing membership of the Saturday Reading Group which meets at the Central Library, Southampton, I launched "Poetry 2", which runs on the first Thursday of each month. The Saturday Poetry group is now closed to new members but Poetry 2 will welcome new participants. See my contact details, or http://towerandfountain.blogspot.com/ for information.
I had the pleasure of attending a meeting of another literary/poetry reading group at a sheltered housing facility in the city. We looked at 2 sonnets: 'Shall I compare thee to a summer's day' and 'Prayer', by Carol Ann Duffy.
I have given short presentations on various aspects of poetry, including recently - Iambic pentameter, and form and content in Gray's Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard, with special reference to accentual-syllabic metre.
